Christmas Newsletter Inspiration – Simple Ideas to Make Your Grooming Business Stand Out

November 03, 2026•10 min read

Can you believe we're already heading into another holiday season! It might only be the beginning of November but now is the time to start thinking about all things Christmas for your business.

December is one of those months when everything seems to get a little busier. Your grooming diary might be filling up, your customers are preparing for Christmas, and you're probably juggling a hundred different things behind the scenes.

But amongst all the festive chaos, there's one little marketing opportunity you don't want to overlook…

Your Christmas newsletter!

Sending a Christmas newsletter is a lovely way to reconnect with your customers, spread a little festive cheer and remind them just how much you appreciate their support throughout the year.

And the best part? It doesn't need to be complicated, time-consuming or packed full of sales messages.

So, grab yourself a cuppa, get cosy and let's get festive!

1. Start With a Little Christmas Cheer

First things first, make your newsletter feel festive!

Your Christmas newsletter doesn't need to look like every other email you send throughout the year. This is your opportunity to have a little fun with your branding and bring some Christmas magic into your communications.

Think festive colours, little Christmas graphics, snowy backgrounds, cute dog illustrations and perhaps a few Christmas-themed headings.

You could open with a warm, friendly message wishing your customers a wonderful Christmas and letting them know how much you've enjoyed looking after their four-legged family members throughout the year.

Remember, people aren't just booking a dog grooming appointment. They're trusting you with a very important member of their family.

A little personal touch goes a long way.

Newsletter idea:

It's beginning to look a lot like Christmas!

As another year comes to a close, we wanted to take a moment to wish all our lovely customers and their gorgeous pups a very Merry Christmas.

Thank you for trusting us with your furry family members throughout the year. We've loved welcoming each and every one of them through our doors, and we feel very lucky to have such wonderful customers.

We hope your Christmas is filled with happiness, laughter, lovely memories and, of course, plenty of wagging tails!

2. Share Your Christmas Opening Hours

This might not be the most exciting part of your newsletter, but it's certainly one of the most useful!

December is a busy month, and customers will appreciate knowing exactly when you're available and when you'll be taking a little well-deserved time off.

Include details such as:

  • Your last grooming day before Christmas.

  • Your Christmas and New Year closing dates.

  • The date you'll reopen in January.

  • Any remaining appointment availability.

  • When customers can expect replies to messages and enquiries.

Don't forget to mention any changes to your usual booking arrangements.

A little tip: If your Christmas appointments are already fully booked, let customers know! You could encourage them to book their January appointments before the festive break so they don't miss out.

You can even include a little reminder about getting their next appointment booked before they leave their current one.

A little forward planning now can save you an awful lot of January headaches!

3. Give Your Customers Some Festive Dog Care Tips

Here's where you can provide some genuinely useful information that your customers will appreciate.

Christmas brings a few extra challenges for our furry friends, so why not use your newsletter to share some seasonal dog care advice?

You could include a little section called "Keeping Your Pup Happy & Healthy This Christmas".

Some ideas include:

Watch out for Christmas treats.

Chocolate, mince pies, Christmas pudding, raisins and certain other festive foods can be dangerous for dogs. Remind customers to keep tempting treats safely out of reach and stick to dog-friendly goodies.

Be mindful of decorations.

Christmas trees, tinsel, baubles, fairy lights and wrapping materials can all present potential hazards for curious pups. Encourage customers to keep an eye on their dogs around festive decorations.

Don't forget those muddy paws!

Between winter walks, wet weather and muddy gardens, keeping paws clean can become a full-time job! Share a few tips for keeping their dog's paws clean and comfortable during the winter months.

Keep up with coat maintenance.

Winter doesn't mean grooming routines should go out the window. Depending on the dog's coat type, regular brushing and maintenance are still important to prevent knots and matting.

You could even remind customers to contact you if they're unsure how best to maintain their dog's coat between appointments.

The beauty of including seasonal advice is that you're providing value without trying to sell anything.

You're showing customers that you care about their dogs even when they're not sitting on your grooming table.

4. Give a Little Christmas Thank You

This is one of my favourite things to include in a Christmas newsletter.

Your customers have supported your business throughout the year. They've booked appointments, recommended you to friends, shared your posts and trusted you with their beloved dogs.

Why not take a moment to recognise that?

A simple thank-you message can make your customers feel appreciated and remind them that they're more than just another booking in your diary.

You could even share a little behind-the-scenes reflection about your year.

Perhaps you've welcomed lots of new faces, celebrated a business milestone, introduced a new service or simply enjoyed watching your little grooming business continue to grow.

Newsletter idea:

It's been a wonderful year, and we couldn't have done it without you!

As a small business, every booking, recommendation, review and kind word means so much to us.

We're incredibly grateful that you've chosen us to look after your gorgeous pups, and we never take that trust for granted.

Thank you for being part of our little grooming family. We look forward to seeing you and your four-legged friends in the new year!

Never underestimate the power of making someone feel appreciated. Sometimes the simplest messages are the ones people remember most.

5. Add a Little Festive Offer or Treat

If you fancy including a little promotional element in your newsletter, December is a lovely opportunity to do so.

But remember, your offer doesn't have to involve slashing your prices or giving away your hard-earned income.

Think about little extras that add value to your customers' experience.

Here are a few ideas, some of which I implemented myself at Posh Pups:

  • A Christmas goodie bag: Include a little treat, festive toy or something special for their pup to take home.

  • A January booking bonus: Offer a small complimentary extra for customers who book their next appointment before Christmas.

  • A festive referral thank you: Give existing customers a little treat or bonus when they recommend a new client.

  • A Christmas gift voucher: Encourage customers to purchase a grooming gift voucher for another dog lover.

  • A seasonal grooming package: If it suits your services, create a little winter pamper package with some additional finishing touches.

You could also use your newsletter to remind customers that gift vouchers are available.

After all, dog lovers can be notoriously difficult to buy for, but a little treat for their four-legged best friend is always a lovely option!

Just make sure any offer is profitable for your business and something you can comfortably deliver during an already busy time of year.

6. Share a Little Behind-the-Scenes Christmas Magic

People love seeing the person behind the business.

Your Christmas newsletter is a lovely opportunity to let customers get to know you a little better.

You could include:

  • A photograph of your Christmas decorations in the salon.

  • A picture of your own dog enjoying the festive season.

  • A little glimpse of your grooming space dressed up for Christmas.

  • A funny moment or memorable experience from the year.

  • A photograph of your Christmas preparations.

You could even share a little festive tradition that you enjoy outside of work.

These small personal touches help customers connect with you as a person, not just as the business owner.

And that connection is incredibly valuable.

When customers feel connected to your business, they're more likely to remember you, recommend you and continue booking with you.

You don't need professional photographs or a perfectly staged Christmas scene. Sometimes a genuine little snapshot is all you need.

7. Encourage Customers to Book Their January Appointments

Once the Christmas festivities are over, January can sometimes feel a little quieter for dog grooming businesses.

Customers have spent money on Christmas, routines have changed and grooming appointments might not be at the top of their priority list.

This is why your December newsletter is the perfect opportunity to encourage a little forward planning.

Rather than waiting until January to start filling your diary, give customers a gentle reminder that their pups will still need looking after once the Christmas decorations come down!

You could include:

  • A reminder to book their next regular grooming appointment.

  • A little note about your January availability.

  • An invitation to pre-book their next few appointments.

  • A reminder about maintaining regular grooming routines throughout winter.

Newsletter idea:

Don't let January sneak up on you!

After all the Christmas excitement, normal routines will soon return, and before you know it, those fluffy coats will be ready for a little TLC!

If your pup is due for a January appointment, why not get it booked before the Christmas break?

Our January diary is now open, and we'd love to get your four-legged friend booked in for their next pamper session.

A little reminder now can make a big difference to how your January diary looks!

8. Include a Little Christmas Fun!

Not everything in your newsletter needs to be business-related.

In fact, adding a little fun can make your Christmas newsletter even more enjoyable to read.

Why not include something that makes your customers smile?

Here are a few ideas:

Christmas Dog Quiz

Add a little festive quiz with questions about Christmas and dogs. You could even include the answers at the bottom of the newsletter.

Caption This!

Share a funny photograph of a dog in a Christmas jumper and invite customers to come up with a caption.

The Twelve Days of Doggy Christmas

Create a fun little list of twelve things every dog-loving household might recognise during the festive season.

Your Pup's Christmas Wishlist

Share a few dog-friendly gift ideas, from snuggly blankets and toys to enrichment games and tasty treats.

Festive Photo Competition

Invite customers to send you their favourite Christmas photograph of their pup. You could choose a winner and offer a small prize or complimentary extra at their next appointment.

These little touches add personality to your newsletter and give customers something enjoyable to engage with.

9. Finish With a Warm Christmas Message

Before you sign off, take a moment to bring everything together with a lovely festive closing message.

Thank your customers once again, wish them a wonderful Christmas and let them know you're looking forward to seeing them in the new year.

Keep it warm, genuine and personal.

You could even include a little reminder that you're taking some time away from the business to enjoy Christmas with your family.

Your customers understand that you're a small business owner, and they'll appreciate knowing when you're taking a well-deserved break.

And remember, you don't have to be available 24/7 just because it's Christmas!

A Little Christmas Reminder for You, Too!

Before we finish, I want to remind you of something.

December can be a wonderful time for dog grooming businesses, but it can also be exhausting.

Between managing appointments, keeping customers happy, preparing dogs for Christmas and trying to get everything organised before your own festive celebrations, it's easy to put yourself at the bottom of the list.

So, while you're busy spreading Christmas cheer to everyone else, don't forget to look after yourself, too.

Get organised where you can, plan ahead, set boundaries around your working hours and give yourself permission to enjoy the festive season.

You don't have to do everything perfectly. Your business doesn't need a picture-perfect Christmas marketing campaign to have a successful December
