Dog-Friendly Halloween Event Ideas for Your Home-Based Dog Grooming Business

September 30, 20253 min read

Halloween is the perfect excuse to have some fun with your business while connecting with your local community. If you know how I started my home-based dog grooming business or you have already downloaded my freebie - Simple Marketing Strategies for your Home-based Dog Grooming Business then you will know I am a huge fan of in-person marketing. Social Media has its place but call me an old fashioned girl, I'm just a big fan of real phyisca, tangible marketing where you can really commect with your customers.

So instead of relying on social media alone, here are some creative, in-person ways to bring a little spooky spirit into your grooming salon, attract new clients, and delight your regulars.

1. Trick-or-Treat for Dogs 🍬🐕

This is a fun one! Let everyone know (through your Bumper Halloween Newsletter, In-person when the pet parent collects their dog, put up posters in your grooming room, and on social media) that on Halloween day that you will have treats for any doggie trick or treators that visit your door that day.

Prepare little goodie bags with dog treats or branded items (like a pen or fridge magnet) and hand them out to families who stop by. It’s a great way to put your business literally into the hands of local pet owners.

2. Offer a Limited-Time “Spooky Spa Add-On”

Create a fun seasonal add-on to your services, such as:

  • Pumpkin spice shampoo or seasonal cologne spritz.

  • Halloween bandanas or bows with every groom.

  • A themed paw balm treatment.
Make it feel exclusive by only offering it for the month of October.

3. Set Up a Spooky Photo Spot 📸

Decorate a small corner of your grooming space with pumpkins, cobwebs, and Halloween décor. After each groom, snap a quick themed photo of the dog. Print the photo for the client to take home, or display them on a “spooky board” inside your salon for everyone to enjoy. Clients love keepsakes, and it makes their visit feel special.

4. Donate & Get Involved Locally

Offer to sponsor a prize for a community Halloween fair, pet parade, or school raffle. Even a simple donation like a grooming voucher or a treat hamper with your branding can get your business name in front of dozens of local families. It shows you care about the community while gently marketing your services.

5. Halloween Open House

If space allows, host a short open-house event. I know a fantastic business that has a Howl-ween part every year. Its great fun! Only a couple of hours but everyone is in great spirirts!

Invite clients, friends, and neighbors to stop by for cider, treats, and a tour of your grooming space. Keep it casual, family-friendly, and fun. This is a wonderful way for people who might feel nervous about trying a home-based groomer to see your space, meet you, and build trust.

Final Tip: Halloween doesn’t have to mean huge budgets or over-the-top promotions. A little creativity, seasonal décor, and genuine community spirit can make your grooming business stand out while delighting your clients.
